Ever wonder where Barbers came from?

Everyday Trivia.....

THE HISTORY OF BARBERING

The word "barber" comes from the Latin word "barba," meaning beard.  It may surprise you to know that the earliest records of barbers show that they were the foremost men of their tribe.  They were the medicine men and the priests.  But primitive man was very superstitious and the early tribes believed that both good and bad spirits, which entered the body through the hairs on the head, inhabited every individual.  The bad spirits could only be driven out of the individual by cutting the hair, so various fashions of hair cutting were practiced by the different tribes and this made the barber the most important man in the community.  In fact, the barbers in these tribal days arranged all marriages and baptized all children.  They were the chief figures in the religious ceremonies.  During these ceremonies, the hair was allowed to hang loosely over the shoulders so that the evil spirits could come out.  After the dancing, the long hair was cut in the prevailing fashion by the barbers and combed back tightly so that the evil spirits could not get in or the good spirits get out.
This rule by barbers was a common thing in ancient Asia.  In fact, wherever there were legends and superstitions about the hair, the barbers flourished.  To this day in India, the veneration of the hair continues and those who cut and dress the hair are important characters.

SHAVED HEADS AND BEARDS

In Egypt, many centuries before Christ, barbers were prosperous and highly respected.  The ancient monuments and papyrus show that the Egyptians shaved their beards and their heads.  The Egyptian priests even went so far as to shave the entire body every third day.  At this time the barbers carried their tools in open-mouthed baskets and their razors were shaped like small hatchets and had curved handles.  The Bible tells us that when Joseph was summoned to appear before Pharaoh, a barber was sent for to shave Joseph, so that Pharaoh's sight would not be offended by a dirty face.
In Greece, barbers came into prominence as early as the fifth century, BC.  These wise men of Athens rivaled each other in the excellence of their beards.  Beard trimming became an art and barbers became leading citizens.  Statesmen, poets and philosophers, who came to have their hair cut or their beards trimmed or curled and scented with costly essences, frequented their shops. And, incidentally, they came to discuss the news of the day, because the barber shops of ancient Greece were the headquarters for social, political, and sporting news. The importance of the tonsorial art in Greece may be gathered from the fact that a certain prominent Greek was defeated for office because his opponent had a more neatly trimmed beard.
In the third century, BC, the Macedonians under Alexander the Great began their conquest of Asia and lost several battles to the Persians who grabbed the Macedonians by their beards, pulled them to the ground and speared them.  This resulted in a general order by Alexander that all soldiers be clean-shaven.  The civilians followed the example of the soldiers and beards lost their vogue.  Barbers were unknown in Rome until 296 BC, when Ticinius Mena came to Rome from Sicily and introduced shaving.  Shaving soon became the fashion and the barber shop became the gathering place for the Roman dandies. No people were better patrons of the barbers than the Romans.  They often devoted several hours each day to tonsorial operations, which included shaving, hair cutting, hairdressing, massaging, manicuring and the application of rare ointments and cosmetics of unknown formulas.  The great ladies of Rome always had a hairdresser among their slaves and the rich nobles had private tonsors, as they were then called.  Barbers were so highly prized that a statue was erected to the memory of the first barber of Rome.
When Hadrian became emperor, beards became the fashion again -- and for a very good reason.  Hadrian had a face covered with warts and scars.  He allowed his beard to grow to cover these blemishes.  The people of Rome imitated the emperor and grew beards whether they needed them or not.
The fashion changed again to clean-shaven faces. We know that Caesar was clean-shaven.  As we will see repeated in history many times, the leaders of the state were the leaders of fashion and the people were always ready to follow the prevailing styles.  There are many passages in the Bible referring to the barber profession.  Moses commanded that all who recovered from leprosy should be shaved.  This was done as a health precaution, because throughout history the Jews have honored the beard as a badge of manhood.  To this day, the orthodox Jews have little respect for clean-shaven men.  During periods of mourning, the ancient Jews allowed their beards to go untrimmed, but ordinarily their beards were trimmed regularly.  The prophet Ezekiel refers to an ancient custom in these words: "Take thou a barber's razor and cause it to pass upon thy head and upon thy beard."  The razors of those days were made of flint and oyster shells.

ASSISTANTS TO CLERGY

During the first centuries of the Christian era, the barbers of Europe practiced their profession wherever it was the custom to shave the face and trim the beard.  Charlemagne made long, flowing hair the fashion, but each new conqueror changed the fashion according to his whim and personal needs.  During the first ten centuries after Christ, the great majority of the people and even the nobles were uneducated and could neither read nor write.  The most learned people of the times were the monks and priests who became the physicians of the dark ages.  There were no professional surgeons at that time.  Most of the diseases, which are easily curable now, were fatal then.  "Bloodletting" was the popular method of curing all ills.  The clergy who enlisted barbers as their assistants first performed this.  This was the first step in the upward progress of the barber profession.  Barbers continued to act as assistants to the physician-clergy, until the 12th century.  At the council of Tours in 1163, the clergy were forbidden to draw blood or to act as physicians and surgeons on the grounds that it was sacrilegious for ministers of God to draw blood from the human body.  The barbers took up the duties relinquished by the clergy and the era of barber-surgeons began.  The connection between barbery and surgery continued for more than six centuries and the barber profession reached its pinnacle during this time.

FIRST BARBER ORGANIZATION

The earliest known organization of barbers was formed in 1096 in France when William, archbishop of Rouen, prohibited the wearing of a beard.  The barber-surgeon, or chirurgeons, began to thrive all over Europe.  They were the doctors of the times and the royalty as well as the common people came to the barbers to have their ills treated as well as for shaving and haircutting.  The physicians proper were in continual conflict with the barber-surgeons.  The barbers embraced dentistry as well as surgery and this brought down on them the enmity of the dentists of the times.  This caused a long strife, whose settlement required the interference of kings and councils.  Followed between the barbers and the regular surgeon-dentists.  But the barbers retained the privilege of practicing dentistry and surgery for several centuries.

FOUNDED SCHOOL OF SURGERY

In the middle of the 13th century, the barber companies of Paris, known as the Brotherhoods of St. Cosmos and St. Domain, founded the first school ever known for the systematic instruction of barbers in the practice of surgery.  This school was later enlarged and became the model for schools of surgery during the Middle Ages.  Many of the foremost surgeons of the times were students of the School of St. Cosmos and St. Domain.  The establishment of this school was one of the greatest contributions ever made toward the progress of humanity.  The oldest barber organization in the world, still known in London as the "Worshipful Company of Barbers," was established in 1308.  Richard le Barbour, as the Master of the Barbers, was given supervision over the whole of his trade in London.  Once a month he had to go the rounds and rebuke any barbers whom he found acting disgracefully or entering on other trades less reputable.  The master of a city company not only had this power, but he successfully prevented unauthorized persons from practicing the barber profession.  The Barbers Guild of the 14th Century was undoubtedly more powerful than any of the modern unions.  The king and council sanctioned the Guilds and so they could enforce their regulations.  It was not uncommon for violators of Guild regulations to suffer prison terms for their misdemeanors.

BARBERS AS SURGEONS

Up to the year 1416, the barbers were not interfered with in the practice of surgery and dentistry.  But it was soon evident that they were attempting too much.  It was impossible to expect ordinary human beings to competently practice surgery, dentistry and the various tonsorial operations.  People began to complain that the barber-surgeons were making them sick instead of well.  Many barber-surgeons resorted to quackery in order to cover up their ignorance of medicine and anatomy.  These abuses came to the attention of the mayor and council of London.  In 1416 an ordinance was passed forbidding barbers from taking under their care any sick person in danger of death or maiming, unless within three days after being called in, they presented the patient to one of the masters of the Barber-Surgeon's Guild.  Until 1461 the barbers were the only persons practicing surgery.  The practice of surgery was still in its primitive stage, but new discoveries were being made regularly and the barbers found it impossible to keep up with the new discoveries and at the same time maintain their skill in dentistry and barbering.  The surgeons began to forge to the front and became increasingly jealous of the privileges accorded the barbers.  But for a long time they could do nothing to prevent the barbers from acting as surgeons.  In 1450, the Guild of Surgeons was incorporated with the Barbers Company by act of parliament.  Barbers were restricted to bloodletting, toothdrawing, cauterization and the tonsorial operations.  However the board of governors, regulating the operations of the surgeons and barber-surgeons, consisted of two surgeons and two barbers.  Every time a surgeon was given a diploma entitling him to practice his profession, the diploma had to be signed by two barbers as well as two surgeons.  The surgeons resented this, but the barbers were very much favored by the monarchs and preserved their privileges until the middle of the 18th century.  Henry VIII, Charles II and Queen Anne presented the barber-surgeons with valuable gifts and raised many of them to high offices.  Under a clause in the Act of Henry VIII, the Barber-Surgeons were entitled to receive every year the bodies of four criminals who had been executed.  The dissections were performed four times a year in the Barber-Surgeons Hall which still stands in London.

ORIGIN OF BARBER POLE

The modern barber pole originated in the days when bloodletting was one of the principal duties of the barber.  The two spiral ribbons painted around the pole represent the two long bandages, one twisted around the arm before bleeding and the other used to bind is afterward.  Originally, when not in use, the pole with a bandage wound around it, so that both might be together when needed, was hung at the door as a sign.  But later, for convenience, instead of hanging out the original pole, another one was painted in imitation of it and given a permanent place on the outside of the shop.  This was the beginning of the modern barber pole.

ALLIANCE DISSOLVED

As the science of medicine, surgery and dentistry advanced, the barbers became less and less capable of performing the triple functions of barber-surgeon-dentist.  The surgeons wished to be separated entirely from the barbers and they petitioned parliament to sever the ancient relationship of the barbers and surgeons and compel each profession to adhere strictly to its own provinces.  A committee was appointed by parliament to investigate the matter and the petition was favorably reported to parliament.  By an act of parliament, which received the sanction of the king, the alliance between the barbers and surgeons was dissolved in June, 1745.  Two separate companies were formed and the property, formerly owned by the barbers and surgeons jointly, was divided among the two companies.

PROFESSION DECLINES

This marked the decline of the barber profession.  Similar action was taken in France under the reign of Louis XIV.  Toward the end of the 18th century the barbers of Europe had completely relinquished their right to perform any of the operations of surgery and dentistry, except in the small towns and out-of-the-way places where doctors and dentists were not obtainable.  After the barbers were prohibited from practicing medicine, surgery and dentistry, they became mere mechanics and servants, subject to the whims of fashion.  When wigs became the fashion during the 18th and part of the 19th century, barbers became wigmakers.  Their profession had lost its ancient dignity and barbers had become laborers, instead of professional men.  In England, America and all over the civilized world, the decline of the barber was a spectacle for all to see.  Barber shops became hangouts, places where low characters assembled.  Smutty stories, malicious scandal and gossip of all kinds characterized barber shops until a few years ago.  A barber shop was a place where men showed their lower instincts and where women dared not enter.

AN UPWARD TREND

Late in the nineteenth century there were several noteworthy events in the barber profession that gave it an upward trend, and the effects are still carrying onward and upward.  How long it will be before the barber may be looked up to as a professional man, taking his place by the side of the dentist, chiropodist, chiropractor and other kindred professions, cannot be foretold, but it would seem both the public and the profession are ready for better things.  In 1893, A. B. Moler of Chicago, established a school for barbers.  This was the first institution of its kind in the world, and its success was apparent from its very start.  It stood for higher education in the ranks, and the parent school was rapidly followed by branches in nearly every principle city of the United States.  In the beginning of schools, simply the practical work of shaving, haircutting, facial treatments, etc., was taught as neither the public nor the profession were ready to accept scientific treatments of hair, skin and scalp.  Not until about 1920 was much effort made to professionalize the work.

What in the world are they spraying?
  We see it almost every day;
We haven't given it a second thought..
until now!

History shows documented proof that not only illusionists, but banks, big businesses, politicians, and our own governments are masters of mis-direction.   They "seem" to make things happen "right before your eyes", i.e., an event is seen by you, but simply "doesn't register" as fact because your conscious brain says either "ignore this, it's normal" (complacency) , or "no way, that's just too fantastic for me to accept (denial)".

Well here is something that MAY BE HAPPENING RIGHT BEFORE OUR EYES. It's witnessed by millions daily.  And most us haven't given it a second thought. And remember that those "masters of mis-direction" rely heavily on a mindset of either "complacency", or "denial"!

The Chemtrail/Geo-Engineering Coverup

Produced by G. Edward Griffin,
Michael Murphy, and Paul Wittenberger

By now everyone has seen crisscrossing streaks of white clouds trailing behind jet aircraft, stretching from horizon to horizon, eventually turning the sky into a murky haze. Our innate intelligence tells us these are not mere vapor trails from jet engines, but no one yet has probed the questions: WHO is doing this and WHY. With the release of this video, all of that has changed. Here is the story of a rapidly developing industry called Geo-engineering, driven by scientists, corporations, and governments intent on changing global climate, controlling the weather, and altering the chemical composition of soil and water – all supposedly for the betterment of mankind. Although officials insist that these programs are only in the discussion phase, evidence is abundant that they have been underway since about 1990 – and the effect has been devastating to crops, wildlife, and human health. We are being sprayed with toxic substances without our consent and, to add insult to injury, they are lying to us about it. Do not watch this documentary if you have high blood pressure. DVD. 95 minutes. PAL format also available for most European countries.

"You are WHAT you eat"
..append it with:
"... and "HOW YOU THINK" as well,
..  and that can 'end you' even quicker!"

By Baltimore Dave on  Sept 13, 2011
Dedicated to friends, relatives, and the stressed out
"go-getters", "over-achievers", and "shakers-n-movers":
"What, you thought I was kidding?... I told you so!"

Be Content with what you have; rejoice in the way things are. When you realize there is nothing lacking, the whole world belongs to you.”Lao Tzu

In our hurried world it’s easy to feel like you “should” be constantly on-the-go.  Getting caught up in day to day activities and neglecting ourselves seems to be the "norm" these days. Rather than relaxing you might be staying late at the office to finish a report, sending emails, or connecting with friends on various social networks. And agree with or not, that my friends is just plain stressful!

For instance, practicing meditation , Tai Chi, and biking for exercise and leisure, have helped me relax and slow down. Yes, I still get caught up in feeling guilty that I “should” be accomplishing something.  (My step-father's most  resounding daily statement to me was "DO somethin while you ain't doing nothin"...  so go figure!)  MY simple justification for relaxing is that "I'm performing mental maintenance"; I DID accomplish exactly what I needed at the time!. Yesterday, I decided to follow Leo’s advice and "do less". By embracing the idea of doing less, I actually accomplished even more AND took a tiny nap too!

So let go of the need to constantly be doing something. Learn to relax and embrace “laziness.” I’m not arguing you should turn into a sloth; however I think it’s perfectly okay to take time out of your normal routine and take care of yourself. By taking time out to recharge you’ll be more productive and creative.

The art of realization is about cultivating focus and giving yourself time to think. And to really take notice of your hopes, fears, and dreams.

Here are some proven tips to get you started on reducing your stress levels and improving your life:
  1. Start your day relaxed and optimistic.  Ever start a day by oversleeping, missing a meeting, or an important call?  You rush about to try to recover the "time" that you missed.  And that just seems to "wreck" the entire day, doesn't it!  Well your first mistake was "trying to recover that missed time"..  sorry but no matter how hard you try,  you cannot recover time. You can however keep your "composure" and proceed with a relaxing, productive day.  And don't you dare feel "guilty", or allow anyone else to "guilt" you into dwelling on it!!  Just "let it go"!
  2. Start your day "mentally fresh", in a gradual, controlled, action.  (This one may take a little practice.)  Rather than jumping out of bed in the morning, let your brain equalize and focus.  And once you DO get up, for heavens sake don't immediately jump for that keyboard, smart phone, or Wall Street Journal!!  Allow yourself  30 minutes to an hour to gently achieve a bit "awareness" or "presence" (a mental state of acknowledging who and where you are, and what's happening around you)...  Relax, sip your coffee, read a chunk of that novel, meditate, Tai Chi, watch the activity outside your window.. anything except immediately "blasting" your mind with action!
  3. Start each day anew.  Don't let tasks overlap between daysPut closure on yesterday and all that WAS yesterday.  Are you one of those folks that mentally "carries over" yesterday's stuff into today as something you failed to complete?  Well I was... Big mistake! Yesterday was yesterday; it's over, it's done! If there's something that you started yesterday, CLOSE the portion that WAS completed, and START today's PORTION as NEXT.
  4. Learn to prioritize your tasks. By prioritizing your tasks, you’ll have more time to relax and do what you love in your down time.
  5. LISTEN to your body. How many of you actually listen to your body? Do you slow down when you get tired or become ill? Or do you keep going into the office and working long hours.  As a former student of bodybuilding I've learned that if you "fail to give your body recovery time", you succumb to a condition called "over-training" or even "injury". And IF YOU KEEP GOING, you risk even more serious or even permanent damage.  At that point you will have no choice but to come to a complete stop.  And folks, believe it or not, your MIND is a lot less resilient than the body... Wounds of the mind tend to last a lifetime!  So "Take a break. or be broken"... Choose wisely.
  6. Observe your surroundings. If your home is loud, find a quiet place to cultivate laziness. Bring a blanket to the park and observe your surroundings.
  7. Imagine a personal paradise.
  8. Exercise everyday. Take time out of your busy routine and take a long walk, run or bike ride. It’s amazing how much exercise can help reduce levels of stress.
  9. Practice deep breathing and meditation.
  10. Go on a slow meditative walk.
  11. Take a long, leisurely bike ride... If you peddle through your suburban neighborhood streets like I do, you might take a few dog biscuits along a make some "really happy to see ya" tail-wagging friends along the way..  and by all means stop and chat with their care-givers as well!
  12. Participate in activities or hobbies that relax you. What are your favorite hobbies? Do you like going for long runs or slow leisurely walks?  Doesn't matter..  just schedule the time and DO IT!
  13. Take a nap. I’m convinced that naps are the key to a happy life. I always joked that we should have a designated nap hour.  You might take note that Albert Einstein and Thomas Edison were famous for frequent napping in some cases attributing the generation of some of their best ideas.
  14. Spend time with your pet. Numerous studies have show that spending time with a pet is relaxing, fun, and can lower your stress level.
  15. Smile and laugh. Have fun and learn to smile and laugh more. If you have trouble laughing, look into laughing yoga.
  16. Read a good book. And I don't mean a technical manual, self-motivational, or a medical book.  Pick a novel, something that relaxes or entices you away from tasking...  and "escape" so to speak.  An audio book (on DVD or tape) does wonders for many.  There is nothing more powerful and relaxing than getting lost in the power of a good story.
  17. Listen to calming music. It really does help!
  18. Go fishing or sailing... As excellent "escape" activities, these are ways to coax your mental focus "away" from stresses, and often allow the body to relax as well.
  19. Give hugs. Hug your friends, family members and partner. Hugging more often not only increases happiness but makes us happier.
  20. Cook a healthy meal at home. Savor your time in the kitchen or on the grill by making a simple healthy meal. Use simple ingredients like whole grains, vegetables and fruits in your dish.
  21. Do less. Learning to relax doesn’t have to be so complicated. We just have to do less and make the time for self-care.

Dentist said you need a filling?

Be sure to ask:

"What type of filling material will be used"?

Are You Being Tricked Into Having this Neurotoxin Placed Next to Your Brain?

Mercury Use in Dental Amalgam
Dental amalgam, used in restorative work for filling teeth, is an alloy that contains silver, tin, copper, other metallic elements, and mercury, which typically makes up about 50 percent of the amalgam. Historically, dentists mixed amalgam on-site using bulk liquid mercury and metal powders, but today dental amalgam is purchased in pre-dosed amalgam capsules that come in different sizes. The mercury content of each capsule can vary from 100 to 1,000 milligrams of mercury.
Dental amalgam remains the second largest category of mercury use in products for all three IMERC reporting years (behind the category of switches and relays). Unlike other mercury-added products, there are no state restrictions on the sale or distribution of dental amalgam..

The doctor said I have WHAT!?

How... Why..  don't smoke, not a big drinker, watch what I eat, it doesn't "run" in the family... and I'm athletic!

If this happens to you, here's one possible reason why you should NOT be surprised .........

Let's call this "the tip of the iceberg":
  1. Monsanto gave us the herbicide "Roundup" that was initially biodegradable...  and then it wasn't!
  2. Monsanto gave us genetically modified "Roundup" resistant crops..  so that farmers could kill the weeds without killing the crop.
  3. Monsanto gave the farmers a hormone to help his cows produce more milk, and all kinds of antibiotics to keep the cattle "healthy". There's probably enough antibiotic in that delicious beef steak you grilled last night to cure a bacterial sinus infection.
(And surely you knew that many types of bacteria adapt and develop an immunity to an antibiotic if it used too often. Use it too often, and it just doesn't work any more.. Ever heard of a "MRSA infection?"..  look it up!)
And that hormone for the cow? It happens to be one that your body uses as well, and it comes in the jug of milk you just bought.

Oops, didn't know that "you were paying" to participate in a massive chemical experiment?   SURPRISE!.....

If you eat "mass produced" (non-organically grown) aka: "processed" foods, it's a safe bet that you've been on hormones, antibiotics, herbicides, pesticides, etc. for a quite a while now.  Even if you quit now, "grow your own", find a source of "grass fed" milk and meats, wild non-farm raised fish, poultry, yada, yada, yada... all that you have to worry about now are those pesky "hidden consequences" from what you've already put into you body.

Most powerful corporations who supply your daily products (food, drugs, power, water, transportation, fuel, etc.) will go to any length for profit!

Oh that "AND MUCH MORE" part of the package probably refers to the incurable affliction that you'll get from using the product!...  But in all fairness, a subsidiary or affiliate of the said corporation will provide you with a medication to ease your ailment (at a hundred times actual cost of course)... more so for the additional profit, than to actually "help" you.

It's simple economics folks.  it is far more profitable to sell you a known toxic substance, later pay some meager legal penalties.. AND to then addict you to lifelong medications, than to NOT SELL IT AT ALL!
Right about now you're probably saying "Noooo, that's ridiculous ...  not possib... That's just a load of paranoid bullcrap...   I've  been eating and drinking what?..   Who...When.. Why doesn't someone..??? ......"

Here's one example... enjoy:

Un-American to think this way? Do YOU still seriously believe....?

Do you still seriously believe.... ?
by "Baltimore Dave"

Way back when a guy took a bite of an apple..  and what happened?

Up to 1492 WE KNEW our world was "flat"!

Up to the 1950s WE KNEW that there were no such things as UFOs, beings as "aliens" and that we were alone in this galaxy!

November 22, 1963 WE KNEW that Lee Harvey Oswald assassinated  President John F. Kennedy!

On September 11, 2001 WE KNEW that Islamic terrorists achieved an attack on the NY World Trade Center and the Pentagon!

Come on folks do you seriously believe that the people of the world can be that naive or "dummy-ed up" for so long?

9/11 and the Orwellian Redefinition of "Conspiracy Theory"

Global Research, June 20, 2011
- 2011-06-19

1972Share

While we were not watching, conspiracy theory has undergone Orwellian redefinition.

A “conspiracy theory” no longer means an event explained by a conspiracy.  Instead, it now means any explanation, or even a fact, that is out of step with the government’s explanation and that of its media pimps.

For example, online news broadcasts of RT have been equated with conspiracy theories by the New York Times simply because RT reports news and opinions that the New York Times does not report and the US government does not endorse.

In other words, as truth becomes uncomfortable for government and its Ministry of Propaganda, truth is redefined as conspiracy theory, by which is meant an absurd and laughable explanation that we should ignore.

When piles of carefully researched books, released government documents, and testimony of eye witnesses made it clear that Oswald was not President John F. Kennedy’s assassin, the voluminous research, government documents, and verified testimony was dismissed as “conspiracy theory.”

In other words, the truth of the event was unacceptable to the authorities and to the Ministry of Propaganda that represents the interests of authorities.

The purest example of how Americans are shielded from truth is the media’s (including many Internet sites’) response to the large number of professionals who find the official explanation of September 11, 2001, inconsistent with everything they, as experts, know about physics, chemistry, structural engineering, architecture, fires, structural damage, the piloting of airplanes, the security procedures of the United States, NORAD’s capabilities, air traffic control, airport security, and other matters.  These experts, numbering in the thousands, have been shouted down by know-nothings in the media  who brand the experts as “conspiracy theorists.”

This despite the fact that the official explanation endorsed by the official media is the most extravagant conspiracy theory in human history.

Let’s take a minute to re-acquaint ourselves with the official explanation, which is not regarded as a conspiracy theory despite the fact that it comprises an amazing conspiracy.  The official truth is that a handful of young Muslim Arabs who could not fly airplanes, mainly Saudi Arabians who came neither from Iraq nor from Afghanistan, outwitted not only the CIA and the FBI, but also all 16  US intelligence agencies and all intelligence agencies of US allies including Israel’s Mossad, which is believed to have penetrated every terrorist organization and which carries out assassinations of those whom Mossad marks as terrorists.

In addition to outwitting every intelligence agency of the United States and its allies, the handful of young Saudi Arabians outwitted the National Security Council, the State Department, NORAD, airport security four times in the same hour on the same morning,  air traffic control, caused the US Air Force to be unable to launch interceptor aircraft,  and caused three well-built steel-structured buildings, including one not hit by an airplane, to fail suddenly in a few seconds as a result of limited structural damage and small, short-lived, low-temperature fires that burned on a few floors.

The Saudi terrorists were even able to confound the laws of physics and cause WTC building seven to collapse at free fall speed for several seconds, a physical impossibility in the absence of explosives used in controlled demolition.

The story that the government and the media have told us amounts to a gigantic conspiracy, really a script for a James Bond film. Yet, anyone who doubts this improbable conspiracy theory is defined into irrelevance by the obedient media.

Anyone who believes an architect, structural engineer, or demolition expert who says that the videos show that the buildings are blowing up, not falling down, anyone who believes a Ph.D. physicist who says that the official explanation is inconsistent with known laws of physics, anyone who believes expert pilots who testify that non-pilots or poorly-qualified pilots cannot fly airplanes in such maneuvers, anyone who believes the 100 or more first responders who testify that they not only heard explosions in the towers but personally experienced explosions, anyone who believes University of Copenhagen nano-chemist Niels Harrit who reports finding unreacted nano-thermite in dust samples from the WTC towers, anyone who is convinced by experts instead of by propaganda is dismissed as a kook.

In America today, and increasingly throughout the Western world, actual facts and true explanations have been relegated to the realm of kookiness.  Only people who believe lies are socially approved and accepted as patriotic citizens.

Indeed, a writer or newscaster is not even permitted to report the findings of 9/11 skeptics.  In other words, simply to report Professor Harrit’s findings now means that you endorse them or agree with them.  Everyone in the US print and TV media knows that he/she will be instantly fired if they report Harrit’s findings, even with a laugh. Thus, although Harrit has reported his findings on European television and has lectured widely on his findings in Canadian universities, the fact that he and the international scientific research team that he led found unreacted nano-thermite in the WTC dust and have offered samples to other scientists to examine has to my knowledge never been reported in the American media.

Even Internet sites on which I am among the readers’ favorites will not allow me to report on Harrit’s findings.

As I reported earlier, I myself had experience with a Huffington Post reporter who was keen to interview a Reagan presidential appointee who was in disagreement with the Republican wars in the Middle East.  After he published the interview that I provided at his request, he was terrified to learn that I had reported findings of 9/11 investigators.  To protect his career, he quickly inserted on the online interview that my views on the Iraq and Afghanistan invasions could be dismissed as I had reported unacceptable findings about 9/11.

The unwillingness or inability to entertain any view of 9/11 different from the official view dooms to impotence many Internet sites that are opposed to the wars and to the rise of the domestic US police state.  These sites, for whatever the reasons, accept the government’s explanation of 9/11; yet, they try to oppose the  “war on terror” and the police state which are the consequences of accepting the government’s explanation. Trying to oppose the consequences of an event whose explanation you accept is an impossible task.

If you believe that America was attacked by Muslim terrorists and is susceptible to future attacks, then a “war on terror” and a domestic police state to root out terrorists become necessary to make Americans safe. The idea that a domestic police state and open-ended war might be more dangerous threats to Americans than terrorists is an impermissible thought.

A country whose population has been trained to accept the government’s word and to shun those who question it is a country without liberty in its future.

"Want to play a game?"  Those memorable words are from the WOPER defense computer in the movie Wargames!

“Twitter Terrorists” Could Get 30 Years in Prison
A new breed of hacker (technically termed "Cyber-terroists") is out there folks...  everyday people whose wish is to "tinker" with your emotions as a "joke", but without actually thinking of the horrendous  consequences..  And let's face it folks, you'd have to be really naive to think that your signature isn't all over the message?...

Well it finally looks like the Cyber-Patrols of many countries are saying "Oops, sorry bout that" just isn't good enough..."   read on...

What might the 2011 version of Orson Welles’s War of the World‘s radio broadcast look like using today’s fastest method of information-sharing? Gerardo Buganza, the interior secretary for Veracruz state in Mexico, said it could very well be the “Twitter terrorism” caused by two people who allegedly spread false reports of gunmen attacking schools and kidnapping children.

Those reports caused such panic when parents scrambled around the city to get to their children that there were dozens of car accidents and emergency phone lines were jammed.

The two people, a private school teacher and a radio presenter, now face 30 years in prison for charges under terrorism laws.

According to the Guardian, these are the most serious charges ever for inciting chaos or violence through Twitter.

Prosecutors claim one of the defendants tweeted, “My sister-in-law just called me all upset, they just kidnapped five children from the school.”

Both defendants claim that they only repeated what they saw elsewhere on the Internet.

Do you think people should be imprisoned for inciting violence or chaos using Twitter? How serious should the punishment be? (Welles received no punishment for the mass hysteria that the Halloween 1938 broadcast caused.)

Next time you're posting or tweeting, and a thought like "Hmm a good joke on so-and-so would be..." comes to mind, you might ask yourself, "Implications??... 30 years, DO I REALLY want to send this?"  Maybe NOT so funny.... Delete !!!

Vermont presses post-Irene recovery, braces for more flooding

(Reuters) - A week after Tropical Storm Irene washed out scores of roads across southern and central Vermont, state officials on Saturday worked to restore more routes and worried about forecasts for more heavy rain.

A forecast for rounds of thunderstorms with torrential downpours in east-central New York and southern Vermont in the coming days raised concerns Vermont could see renewed flash flooding over already compromised areas.
Heavy rainfall, combined with saturated soil conditions from extreme rains dumped by Irene, may lead to flash flooding in low-lying, poor-drainage areas and in areas next to small streams and creeks, the National Weather Service said.

The weather service on Saturday issued a flash flood warning for the region from Sunday afternoon through early Tuesday. Rivers that experienced flooding during Irene will be particularly susceptible to fresh flooding should torrential downpours occur for several hours, the weather service added.

"We are putting swift-water rescue teams on standby and notifying towns and everyone in the field from the state and federal government of the potential for more flooding," Governor Peter Shumlin said.
Vermont's emergency management center was staying open around the clock, he added.

"I urge all Vermonters and visitors to be vigilant and stay out of rivers, streams, lakes, ponds and reservoirs in the areas affected by severe flooding," Shumlin said.

The north of Vermont was largely spared the calamitous flooding that struck other parts of the state under Irene.

As the fall tourist season got underway for the Labor Day weekend, 84 out of 118 damaged state road segments had reopened to at least some traffic and 15 of 24 closed state highway bridges were now accessible, officials said. The status of town-managed roads and bridges was still being determined.
Late Friday, Transportation Secretary Brian Searles said the state was well on its way to restoring access for emergency vehicles and utility companies to every community.

Restoring full public access to the communities and inspecting bridges of concern is a top priority, he said.
Workers also have restored vehicle access to communities that were isolated, Searles said. Most roads in Clarendon, Tinmouth, Wallingford, Danby and Mount Tabor -- towns once cut off from the rest of the state -- are now passable, with all areas reachable again.

Businesses and state officials hope the recovery work is completed quickly heading into the autumn foliage season, when Vermont usually attracts about $330 million in business.

Shumlin on Saturday asked President Barack Obama to approve disaster recovery aid for individuals and businesses in Addison and Orange counties. Five Vermont counties -- Chittenden, Rutland, Washington, Windham and Windsor -- already have qualified for such federal aid to supplement state recovery efforts since Irene hit on August 28.

Shumlin said about 600 customers remained without power earlier on Saturday, down from some 50,000 outages in immediately after the storm.
